Factor Cybersecurity SMS Messaging Program

Factor Cybersecurity, Inc. ("Factor") provides optional SMS text-message notifications to registered Factor users. SMS messages may include cybersecurity findings, information requests, responses to requests, security notifications, account activity, and other operational notifications generated by the Factor platform.

This page is Factor's public SMS program information page and an illustrative representation of the authenticated opt-in experience. It is not a public SMS enrollment mechanism and does not collect consent. Actual SMS consent can only be provided by an authenticated Factor user from within the Factor platform.

How users opt in

SMS messaging is optional. Factor users may opt in only after creating and authenticating their Factor account.

Within Profile → Communication Preferences, a user adds or confirms a mobile telephone number, verifies that number, and actively selects an unchecked SMS consent control.

The SMS consent control is not preselected and is separate from acceptance of Factor's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or any other required agreement. A user may continue to use the Factor platform without consenting to SMS messages.

At the point of opt-in, the user is shown the following disclosure:

I agree to receive recurring SMS messages from Factor Cybersecurity regarding cybersecurity findings, information requests, security notifications, account activity, and other operational Factor notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. SMS consent is optional and is not required to use the Factor platform.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on the user's activity, notification preferences, selected delivery method, and permitted delivery hours.

Users may choose to receive eligible SMS messages individually as they are generated, or as a Daily Digest at a time selected by the user. Users may also restrict SMS delivery to specific hours in their selected time zone. Messages generated outside those permitted hours are held and become eligible for delivery when the user's next permitted delivery window begins.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply depending on the user's mobile carrier and service plan.

Opting out

Users may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to a Factor SMS message or by disabling SMS in Profile → Communication Preferences.

After opting out, Factor will stop sending SMS messages to that mobile number unless the user later provides new affirmative consent. Messages that are pending or queued for SMS delivery will not be sent after consent has been revoked.

Help

Users may reply HELP to a Factor SMS message for assistance. Users may also contact Factor Cybersecurity support through the Factor platform or using the support contact information published on factorcyber.com.

Consent is tied to the mobile number

SMS consent applies only to the verified mobile number for which consent was provided. If a user changes their mobile number, the new number must be verified and the user must provide new affirmative SMS consent before Factor sends SMS messages to the new number. Consent previously provided for another mobile number does not automatically transfer to a new number.

Privacy

Factor does not sell, rent, or share mobile telephone numbers, SMS opt-in information, or SMS consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Mobile information may be provided to service providers only as necessary to operate, secure, and deliver Factor's communications services. Factor records SMS consent and opt-out activity so that communication preferences can be honored and maintained accurately.

Review Factor Cybersecurity's Privacy Policy for additional information about how Factor collects, uses, protects, and retains information, and the SMS Terms and Conditions for additional information about the SMS messaging program.

Carrier notice

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
